i said "oops" to my lil' turkey...

I am getting Thanksgiving off to an early start by testing my turkey cooking skills. I have never made a real turkey before. I always buy the yummy pre-cooked turkey at HEB, which is FABULOUS. But this year, since I think I am Julia Child and Martha Stewart and Gordon Ramsey, I decided I must try the real thing. My "real turkey" is not really real. It is just a boneless 1 lb young thang (or 3-5 pound, I can't decide).

Tonight I am marinating it. I put in about 7 cups of water, 1/4 cup of sea salt, 1 cup of packed brown sugar, and a little more than 1 cup of maple syrup (light maple syrup, because as you can see we are trying to watch the calories).

Then I got out the lil' tukey package. I unwrapped it. Found that it came with a little package of gravy. Isn't that nice? don't need it right now though, so I stuck that back in the frig. Then I get out my lil' turkey. I see it is wrapped in a net. i wonder to myself why they wasted their time with this stupid net that i now have to cut off. I get out my scissors. And I cut the net off. my lil'turkey promptly falls apart.

WHY? why would they not tell me in big bold letters all over the turkey package over and over again to NOT CUT OFF THE NET.

Me and my scissors. Someone please come and confiscate all scissors from my house. When I need them, I have to sign them out only after getting approval for usage from a responsible scissor attendant.

So my poor lil' turkey which no longer even resembles a turkey is marinating in all these delicious juices I threw together and hopefully, even though the turkey is broken it will be FABULOUS.
